Plein Air Painting and Family Adventure: A Journey in DarthVanagon
Traveling in our trusty 1987 Vanagon, also known as DarthVanagon, is more than just a road trip for our family. It’s an opportunity to capture the beauty of the landscape and create lasting memories through plein air painting.
As we drive through the breathtaking scenery, we stop to set up our easels and paint the views that surround us. Our favorite memory is waking up early to see the first light of day dance across the Grand Tetons. With coffee brewing in our french press and the sounds of crickets singing in the background, we take in the majestic sight of the Tetons in all their glory.
I quickly grabbed my thick acrylic paints to capture the brilliant blues against the grey granite faces and the snowy patches caught in the veins. These paintings hold a special place in my heart as they are my raw, first impressions of the beauty without time for critical comparison.
