Pacific Ember
There’s a particular kind of light you only seem to find along the California coast — when the evening mist catches the setting sun and the Carmel sky begins to glow in shades of apricot, amber, and soft, molten orange. I was captivated by that fleeting moment, watching the Pacific waves crash against the shoreline beneath a sky that seemed almost to be on fire.
Painted in oils on a wood panel, this 12 × 12 original is my interpretation of that beautiful contrast between the movement of the ocean and the quiet magic of the evening light. I wanted to capture not just the colors, but the feeling of standing there, breathing in the salt air, and watching the last light of the day dance across the water.
A little piece of the California coast, held in time.
