Shades of the Tides

Inspired by plein air painting and the breathtaking beauty of Carmel-by-the-Sea. 🌊

This 18 x 24 painting was created for the Carmel Plein Air Painting competition, inspired by a moment looking back toward the beach as the colors dancing across the tides completely mesmerized me.

It was one of those views that you wish you could bottle up and take home. The shifting blues, the light, the movement of the water… absolutely unforgettable.

When the show was over, I tried to capture that feeling in paint. This piece is my interpretation of a place that reminds me why I love what I do — chasing light, color, and those fleeting moments in nature that take your breath away.
